Paul Smith Visits Melbourne
Feride, Paul & Busyman (Me) |
Sir Paul Smith was in Melbourne for two days this week to officially launch his new shop on Collins Street. He very generously agreed to talk to a group of RMIT fashion students about his philosophy on work, business and design. It was inspiring and a whole lot of fun. After the talk Paul took Feride's and my bikes for a spin down Swanston Street.

Axe Cover: Custom Narcissus
This custom axe complete with Busyman leather cover is a gift from Mark to his old school friend who resides in Montreux, Switzerland, Suisse.... The Narcissus (kind of a white daffodil - I think) is the floral emblem for the region. The horizontal straps have a utility function so the axe can be strapped to his donkey for trips into the forest above Montreux.

Cafe Racer Saddle
I made the saddle - from scratch! Starting off with a laminated bent wood pan and finishing off with vegetable tanned cow hide. The saddle was a collaborative project with Modern Motorcycle Co who built up the bike. They also organised for some fibreglass work underneath to make space for the fender. It was not easy.
