Busy Bee Bicycle

I love my old Motor Spares - Master Sports path racer. Details of note are the two speed coaster brake hub, the Cerchio Ghisallo wooden rims and of course the leatherwork. The saddle design is inspired by the old Peel coat of arms (Sir Robert Peel) which includes a quiver of arrows, a busy bumble bee and the inscription 'INDUSTRIA'. The seat angle looks a but steep but it's comfortable in the upright riding position.

Chocolate Vanilla Scoop

For Paul's Vanilla show bike. The inspiration came from some first generation busyman bar tape saved by Dan at Superbe Velo Service. The saddle is recovered in Brandy coloured kangaroo whip leather with fine perforations laced with hand stitched cross-stitch detail and a subtly raised Vanilla Bicycles flower logo.

The Skull for Damo

Brandy colour kangaroo leather with a scar or two.

Pegoretti Bontrager Aeolus

For James' Pegoretti Ciavete I recovered his saddle in kangaroo whiskey whip leather perforated all over with all the colours of the frame showing though. The bar tape has the same treatment with a single row of perforations.

Rido Lyerbird Tail Feathers

Garry's Rido LTX saddle with red brogue detailing in the back panel looking like a lyrebird's tail feathers. We reclaimed the foam padding from Garry's broken Rido LT saddle and reinstated it onto his new unpadded carbon Rido LTX and made a new cover in black kangaroo leather.

Ege Bisikletim for Türkiye

The plan is to take this bike on our next visit to Türkiye and leave it at my father-in-law's beach house on the Aegean cost. It's a fun project I started back in 2010 and have just refinished with some new relaxed swept back handlebars and cute light blue leather. The saddle and bar tape are perforated with a pattern of the initials 'BB' for Busyman Bicycles or maybe bumble bee.

The 1 piece saddle bag is a new iteration of my classic 2-piece bag, simplified to be just one panel instead of two. The zip opening runs lengthwise along the underside and proves to be very functional. To access the bag contents simply unbuckle the retaining strap and unzip; no need to remove the bag from the saddle. On the back of the bag is a perforated version of the Turkish evil eye.

Two Piece Saddle Bags with Silver Perforations

It took a couple of goes to get the colour right on this 2 piece bag for Steve. The aim was to get the silver perforations to look like the titanium but in the first version, the one with black piping, it was too blue. So we had another try and decided to change the piping to grey for an added highlight. This one also with the spring loaded, nickel plated toe strap buckle and a single ended YKK Vislon zipper.

Two piece saddle bag with red piping

The first of two saddle bags for Steve. This one is for his Pegoretti to match the saddle, bar tape and pump strap I made a while ago. We fitted a double ended YKK Vislon zip, but after trying it out Steve decided a single zip slider would be more functional. He also opted to have the nickel plated, spring loaded toe strap buckle rather than the traditional style stainless buckle I've been using recently.

Custom Anniversary His & Hers Pegorettis

Heather and David's Pegoretti's inspired by the colour of their Ferraris. Heather's saddle Selle Italia Lady Diva saddle in black kangaroo leather with perforations in a colour block pattern Modena yellow, orange and Barbie pink. The bar tape is black Alcantara with a hex flower perforated pattern fading from yellow, through orange to pink.

David's saddle, Selle Italia SLR Superflow Boost in black kangaroo leather features a nod to the Ferrari shield logo in gold perforations with a green (Ferrari Verde Jewell) concentric pattern covering the rest of the space. His coordinating bar tape is matte black cow leather with both green and gold in the perforated pattern.
