Marbled Black Magic Enve

For Black Magic Paint in Portland I recently completed this Fizik Vento Argo saddle to finish off their marbled Enve MOG bicycle.

Dark Green Regal

 For Alexei's 80s vintage Italian Simoncini I refinished this Selle San Marco Regal in a very dark green leather with red highlights, chrome rivets and some matching custom bar tape.

Serk: Tan Power Mimic

 For Serk Cycles I recovered this Power Mimic saddle in tan kangaroo leather with perforations in a gentle green to match the bike's paint scheme, and made some coordinating bar tape. The bike is on schedule to show at the Handmade Bicycle Show in Melbourne next weekend.

About the Mimic feature on Specialized saddles: consisting of some very soft foam through the centre on the nose and within the middle recessed section. This soft foam is covered with a super thin and elastic membrane which allows the foam to retain its softness. The leather I use on the new cover does not have the same stretchy characteristic which means the soft bits are no longer so soft. Essentially it becomes a Power saddle with the middle recessed instead of 'cut-out'.

The last photo is a late addition to the bike. A two piece saddle bag with perforated detailing to match the saddle.

Giant Fleet SLR Whiskey

 For Allan's Giant TRC road bike I just finished this leather set in whiskey colour Kangaroo to compliment the tan wall tyres he's planning to install. The saddle is a Giant Fleet SLR and the perforated detail features the rich plum colour of the frame. We are still developing a compact saddle bag for Allan's bike. 

Tessellation: SMP Dynamic

 Happy birthday to Ian from Deb! Deb sent to me Ian's old worn out SMP Dynamic saddle and a few photos of his very special Italian Officina Battaglin road bike. I replaced the tired padding with some fresh EVA foam and developed a perforated pattern based on the graphic detailing of the frame's seat tube. Thanks Ian and Deb.

Selle Italia Lady

For Baum Cycles the Lady Gel Flow saddle has several seamed panels and features perforated diagonal stripes in titanium silver and Champagne gold. I always enjoy the wonderful challenge of figuring out the nicest panel configuration, taking into consideration; form, function, economy and aesthetics.

Fizik Aliante Fans

For Spider I recently refinished an old saddle I had previously custom covered for him. The old version had a black widow spider in the design, this one has a perforated design in the iconic Japanese fan pattern.

Fizik Aliante Bishop

For Sean's classic rim brake Bishop road bike. Black leather with dark purple and citrus yellow perforated detail and Bishop's logo raised at the centre back. 

Fizik Arione Bull

A fresh saddle and bar tape for Jurjen's Baum with Blue Sky detailing and a raised motif inspired by some of Picasso's bull fighting sketches. 

Vanilla Classic Fabrics

Here are two Fabric Scoop saddles with some flowery bar tape I recently completed for a couple of Speedvagen's cream and white Vanilla Classic road bikes. The flowery bar tape is a reference to the Vanilla flower logo featured on the saddles.

Orange Power: Baum Orbis

 Black leather with Orange Crush detailing for this Baum Orbis on the S-Works Power saddle and bar tape with twin row offset perforations.

Power Arc: Bear Claw Bastion

 The paint Scheme on John's Bastion was inspired by the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights), painted by Velocraft with an array of colour shift paints. Responding to this I picked up on some of the paint colours behind the perforations which were in a kind of graded grid pattern. Included on the S-Works Power Arc saddle and 2-piece saddle bag are some of the motifs from the frame.

Power: Bear, Star & Mountains

With rainbow fade perforations in graded lines arranged to represent a mountain range and raised motifs borrowed from the California state flag this is Will's S-Works Power saddle with a full leather cover and a matching set of bar tape.

Power 51

For Andy, one of Signature Cycles' customers, I recovered this S-Works Power saddle with leather full cover in kangaroo whiskey colour leather, dark brown perforated seat patches and a raised FiftyOne Bikes logo at the back to tie back with his bike. Huge thanks to Signature Cycles in Connecticut and Aidan of FiftyOne Bikes in Dublin Ireland.

Power Full Cover: S-Works Whiskey

For one of Willy's S-Works bikes I took this Power saddle and recovered it in whiskey whip leather with matching bar tape. The new leatherwork covers the foam padding and the black trim edges of the entire saddle.

Curve: SQ LAB

For Richard's custom painted titanium Curve I recovered this SQ Lab 612 saddle in kangaroo whiskey whip leather, made matching bar tape and punched a whole lot of perforations in there for some of green 'Verde Hydra' to show through.

Unofficially SQ Lab x Dromarti x Busyman

I recovered this SQ Lab 60x saddle in brandy whip leather for Janeen's new No.22 gravel bike. The bike is titanium with anodised teal detailing and some of the components have a rainbow oil slick colouring. We took inspiration from the signature perforations on her Dromarti cycling shoes and the colours on the bike and arrived at this arching pattern to fit with the form of the depression through the centre of the saddle.

Holland Cycles 50 Years: Copper Patina Romin

For Bob's Holland Cycles 50th Anniversary Bike. Painted with an aged copper patina effect similar to a bronze statue after decades of exposure to the elements. Kangaroo whip leather is perforated with glimpses of both copper and patina green showing through. On one side of the saddle Holland Cycles' logo remains as negative space surrounded by concentric lines of perforations. The set is completed with a matching saddle bag and bar tape.

Sienna Alcantara: Signature Cycles: Romin Evo with Mimic

In January this year I was honoured to welcome Ruedi and Abraham from Signature Cycles to my studio in Carlton. While here Ruedi placed an order for some Busyman upholstery to finish his Bastion Cross Road bike. He selected to use Alcantara synthetic suede rather than leather. We all look forward to seeing how this material wears in with use, hoping it develops a good looking patina just like leather or natural suede.

Bar Tapes for Roy

 Late last year I made six sets of bar tape for six bikes in Roy's very impressive stable. Since then I've made another refresh set for his Baum and his Bastion (pictured) and yet another for his Festka which was sadly involved in a crash incident.
