Attica Folders 2025

There have been many notable highs in my practice since I started doing Busyman leatherwork in 2008. One of those highlights was meeting chef Ben Shewry of Attica restaurant and being commissioned to make leather folders for the restaurant's bills, beverage and wine lists. Here are a couple of fresh bill folders and wine list covers from earlier this year. The staff at Attica do such an amazing job with cleaning and maintaining the original folders but unfortunately one mysteriously disappears from time to time.

SLR Burnished Tan Set

Burnished light tan leather with a pull up effect for Rolling Wheels. The large perforated motif is derived from the original Stelbel head-badge design.

Burnished Tan SMP Lite 209

SMP Lite 209 in a burnished vegetable tanned kangaroo leather. It will continue to burnish and develop a complex patina with use.

Black SMP Lite 209

I sculpted some fresh padding for this SMP Lite 209. This saddle one of the more heavily padded models in the SMP range. In the past I've avoided replacing the padding on these because I wasn't sure I'd be able to achieve good enough symmetry and a shape close enough to the original. Sculpted from a few layers of medium density EVA foam. Covered here in the standard black vegetable tanned kangaroo leather. It turns out were pretty happy with the shape.

Black Fizik Antares

A new leather cover for this Fizik Antares saddle in NZ. The old cover was tired and worn but otherwise the saddle was structurally sound. Extending the life of the saddle and simple so it would work with many different bikes. The leather is full aniline vegetable tanned kangaroo. We love the character that the scars and imperfections in the skin bring to the saddle.

Berk Black on Black

Will's black on black Berk Lupina Short. New 3mm EVA foam and covered in a kangaroo perforated leather. Minimal and classic.

Bison Bontrager

James' collection of shrunken bison Bontrager Aeolus saddles. James sources the leather pieces from Leh Cycling Goods to match his handlebar tape.

'76 Gebiomized

After nearly ten years Patrick is updating his saddle from A Specialized Toupe to a Gebiomized Sleak. The 2nd image is the old bar tape after so many years of riding and the link shows that bar tape back in 2016 before it was installed and used.

 

Bikes Make Me Happy: Pegoretti Power

There's a bike shop in Seoul, South Korea called Bike Makes Me Happy. The sell a range of top shelf custom bikes including Pegoretti. This S-Works Power saddle and matching bar tape are a classic looking finish for Black Pegoretti Ciavete. The hand motif is taken from Pegoretti's head tube badge symbolising "made by hand" which sits nicely with the saddle upholstery and handlebar tape too.

Throne for a Baum

A full set for Jarred's Baum Celaris in whiskey kangaroo leather with metallic ice blue perforated detailing. Form Throne saddle, bar tape, frame pump strap, saddle bag roll and bar bag.

Copper Whiskey Baum Tree

S-Works Power Arc saddle and matching bar tape for David's British racing green Baum. The copper colour perforations reference the new Baum tree logo.

Sagittarius SLR Superflow

Whiskey kangaroo leather with the minimally raised Sagittarius symbol perforated in dark brown for Noel.

Prologo Whiskey Nago PAS

Whiskey Kangaroo leather, black perforations, Prologo Nago PAS.

Prologo: Baum: RCC

Prologo Scratch M5 PAS custom covered in kangaroo leather with RCC inspired bands for another Tailored Baum Cycles x Rapha Cycle Club bike. On this set the bar tape was notched up a little with a row of pink perforations and perforated bands angled to the saddle shape.

Miami Vice Black Magic SLR

Black Magic Paint makes some fun and creative paint schemes and it's always a pleasure and an honour to be asked to design and make some coordinating leatherwork to finish the builds. This set is for a Miami Vice themed Enve built by Luis R Ramirez.

Alcantara: Above Category: Björn & Berk

Bo has changed his saddle preference and is opting for some Berk Lupinas and Björn Probkas. He's also decided he really likes Alcantara synthetic suede for the covering material.

Whisky with Poison Ivy: Baum Pro Turnix

M. Eady's Baum Poison Ivy Orbis with my whiskey coloured kangaroo leatherwork perforated highlights in green to match the frame.

Busy Bee Bicycle

I love my old Motor Spares - Master Sports path racer. Details of note are the two speed coaster brake hub, the Cerchio Ghisallo wooden rims and of course the leatherwork. The saddle design is inspired by the old Peel coat of arms (Sir Robert Peel) which includes a quiver of arrows, a busy bumble bee and the inscription 'INDUSTRIA'. The seat angle looks a but steep but it's comfortable in the upright riding position.

Chocolate Vanilla Scoop

For Paul's Vanilla show bike. The inspiration came from some first generation busyman bar tape saved by Dan at Superbe Velo Service. The saddle is recovered in Brandy coloured kangaroo whip leather with fine perforations laced with hand stitched cross-stitch detail and a subtly raised Vanilla Bicycles flower logo.
